Verification FAQ
Why should I verify my refurbished device?
Verification ensures your device has been refurbished to Microsoft’s standards with genuine software licenses, protecting you from counterfeit products and ensuring warranty validity.
What is a Refurbisher ID?
A Refurbisher ID is a unique 8-character identifier assigned to each registered Third Party Refurbisher in the SMART program. It appears on their official certificate and marketing materials.
Is the information secure?
Yes. We only check data available through our own API. No personal information is collected or stored when you use the SMART verification tool.
What if verification fails?
If a serial number or Refurbisher ID cannot be verified, please contact the seller or refurbisher directly for clarification. Non-verified items may not be part of the official Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher program.
How often should I verify?
You only need to verify once when purchasing or receiving a refurbished device. Refurbisher certifications are valid for 12 months and are renewed annually, as long as the refurbisher is still active within the Microsoft program.
